Stained Glass BooksFor further reading we suggest the following: 'Stained Glass' A Pitkin Guide - only 28 pages, but lots of good colour photos and informative text.'Stained Glass in England' - June Osborne - Sutton Publishing History Handbooks series. More scholarly, 230 pages, with a county by county gazeteer (140 pages) of glass of possible interest. 'Contemporary Stained Glass' - Andrew Moor - Mitchell Beazley, 1989, reprint 1998. 144 pages - excellent, with good basics on history and techniques, but majors on approaches to design, mainly for secular public buildings and domestic glass. 'Antique Stained Glass for the Home' - Molly Higgins - Schiffer, 2001. Great set of photos of panels you might actually like in your home! 192 pages. Well worth the $39.95! We find pattern books generally disappointing, however these are 2 of the better ones: '390 Traditional Stained Glass Designs' - Hywel G Harris - Dover. Unlike all the Ed Siebbett books in this series, these are taken from houses around Nottingham, England, and provide good, practical ideas for domestic glazing. 'English Muffle Book of Designs' - Peter Foster - Bowden (Australia). English Muffle is a particular texture of coloured glass. More quite practical designs - geared to English style. |
